Default Are 1st and 2nd level attributes possible?

We're building our site and getting ready to launch. My question is, is it possible to use two levels of attributes to help filter a large product set? For example, for an exhaust system, in the 1st attribute you'd select BMW and then in the 2nd attribute you'd select the E36 model for the BMW - as far as I can tell from reading all the documentation you're restricted to "T-shirt = Large" or "Cap - Red". Anyone ever done this?

    Thanks in advance, using 1.5.1.

That is one of the capabilities of Stock By Attributes. Present an option that once selected reduces or filters the next available option(s) based on that.

The issue(s) that occur though is that for each of the main options, the secondary option must be associated with the product, so the number of attributes could become relatively large. A large number of attributes on a single product could affect performance.

Anyways, Stock by attributes is available at: https://github.com/mc12345678/Stock_...butes_Combined with support thread available through this link: https://www.zen-cart.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=202

@lat9 also has a commercial solution for this issue which is well supported.

There's generally 20-30 car model & year rows per brand, a sample below (left means left side of the car, not necessarily the driver's side):
    AUDI A3, 2003-2013 Left
    AUDI A3, 2003-2013 Right
    AUDI A3/S3, 2015+ Left
    AUDI A3/S3, 2015+ Right
    AUDI A4, 1994-2001 Left (B5)
    AUDI A4 1994-2001 Right (B5)
    ...

For each row there is one part #, and they often repeat so for example the early Audi A3 and A4 will use the same one.

Therefore if I can restrict by car manufacturer at the 1st level then the amount of rows at the 2nd level is manageable. The pricing rarely differs, I need the user to locate their car & model year for fitment more than anything else.
