New Product Preview Button Does Not Upload Image

Creating New Product:

All appears to go fine. Mundane product with no strange shipping, pricing, attributes, etc.
Clicking on Chose File for the Products Image brings up the explorer window with the possible images.
Selecting the image and clicking Open places the selected image's name next to the Choose File button.
Here's where it goes bonkers.

Clicking on Preview brings up the product with no image.

1. Click back and no image is listed next to the Choose File button.
2. Clicking Update creates the product with all data EXCEPT the image.

Tried adding the image directly to the database. It is accepted and shows on the site.
Then tried replacing image with another image. Direct-inserted image is removed but new image is not placed in the product.
No log files, No error files.

Checked database for errors to no avail.

Thought it might be connected to the recent upgrade of MySql but there have been other successful product additions/corrections/deletions since then.

Looks like it might be a Symlink Race Condition Protection. Recently upgraded to MySql 5.7 No problems on the 1.5.6 test site.

'Twas a problem with MySql 5.7 Does not affect 1.5.6 and newer.

Had to set the server to sql_mode='NO_ENGINE_SUBSTITUTION'

FYI for those that walk in these circles. We were only able to generate an error when we selected an image already on the server to add to the product. Trying to use an external image in any way did not throw an error.
