    Default Transferring customer, order and product info from 1.5.1 to 1.5.6

    I don't really see any better place to post this so hopefully this is the right section.

    To start off with I'll say my technical skills are pretty limited but I'm fully capable of installing plugins and executing sql queries (with instructions) myself.
    I'm in the process of setting up a fresh store on 1.5.6 and would like to migrate customer info, order info and products/categories from my heavily edited 1.5.1 install.

    Is it possible to back up that info and put it in the new database even if the old info has a lot of extra fields not in the new database or will it fail to insert? Also if I don't transfer products over will the order/customer pages be kinda broken without displaying what the orders ever were?

    There's really no shortcuts BUT, there is a great tutorial on how to do get a new site going. Take a look at https://www.zen-cart.com/entry.php?3...d-of-upgrading.

    A lot of us have little tricks but, even they go bonkers at times. When that happens, I use drbyte's words to get me back on track.

    And trying to upgrade/install with just parts of the original database is a straight shot to bonkers.

    Yep. Just use the upgrade process with your existing 1.5.1 database. THEN if you decide you don't want this custom field or that custom field, remove them.
