PayPal Express Checkout Not Offering Guest Checkout

I'm updating my site from 1.5.1 to 1.5.6c on a different domain before I move it over. Installed PayPal Express checkout with same settings as my live site, checked guest checkout is turned on at my PayPal Business account.
When I use the PayPal express button I'm greeted with a completely different PayPal screen than my 1.5.1 site directs to, without an option to check out as a guest.


If you click "Sign up quickly" it directs you to put credit card details and billing info in as well as boxes for email, password and a "don't sign me up checkbox"

I saw a lot of posts talking about PayPal decides whether to let your store do a guest checkout or not, is this somehow caused by using my api on a website other than the one listed on my PayPal account?

Managed to get guest checkout working again by changing InContext Checkout from InContext to Old. Not sure what InContext checkout is but I put my PayPal Merchant ID so it should have been offering guest checkout presumably?

This has also happened to me, although I suspect it has to do with the email address reaching the limits of how many guest checkouts are allowed. At some point, they force you to create an account.

I dont see a way on my new install to allow payment with paypal as guest. The above fix didnt work.

You won't.

As swguy noted above, PayPal decides what your customer sees. Too many purchases through PayPal without using their account will cause a customer to have the option of CC purchase hidden almost completely.

The problem was sandbox. Sandbox DOES NOT SHOW guest checkout.

If you just want credit cards without the hassle, perhaps Square or another plugin would work for you? I use Braintree for customers who are PayPal haters and it works great.

Why would you think they would want to waist time and resources to test off-site?
They are simply following their guidelines for sandbox.

If you call a Visa/Mastercard gif a "resource" then there is no point in having a discussion with you.
