Default Problem with Products Purchased report, numbers way off

So we have someone helping us out migrating from 1.5.1 (PROD) to 1.5.6c. (TEST). Both sites are PHP 5.3 for now, but we will switch over to PHP 7.3 once TEST bugs have been resolved. On the test site we are finding that the Products Purchased report number are way off:

    1) We have 4,591 products on PROD, and 105,086 on TEST in the report
    2) The numbers sold are also way askew on TEST vs PROD in the report

In looking thru the forum it seems this may be a known issue on this thread.

Is there a published fix available for this? If not, rough ETA on when it will be fixed?

That patch was incorporated into Zen Cart 1.5.6 in March of this year and is a part of Zen Cart 1.5.6c. Perhaps you could explain more about what the differences are and perhaps what makes it seem like there is an issue?

On the production site (v 1.5.1) when I go to Reports - Products Purchased, it shows the top selling products in order of the most sold to the least sold. It also displays the number of products that were sold. For example...

    Apples - 689
    Oranges - 600
    Bananas - 589
    Grapes - 549

Also, on the production site (v 1.5.1), it shows at the bottom of the page: Displaying 1-20 (of 4947 products). I have a total of 4951 products on my site. This would reflect that there are 4 products in my catalog that have never been sold. This seems to be the correct information. It also displays that I have 248 pages of reports in my Products Purchased report.

On the test site (v 1.5.6c), the top selling products are not in the right order at all, and neither is the number of products purchased. Both are incorrect. For example, it displays this...

    Peaches - 725
    Grapefruit - 675
    Nectarines - 620
    Pineapples - 592

And on the test site (v 1.5.6c), it shows the following at the bottom of the page: Displaying 1-20 (of 105086 products). This is most likely incorrect since I only have a total of 4951 products on my site. It also has 5255 pages or reports! I have never had that many pages in my Products Purchased report.

You can't run 1.5.6c on PHP 5.3. You need to move to at least PHP 5.6.

Sorry my bad, it is running PHP 5.6, I just confirmed. I was traveling and didn't have access to my login.

Double check your copy of admin/stats_products_purchased.php vs. a fresh download of 1.5.6c.

Have products been renamed much/frequently over time? Even with the smallest of variation such as an extra space, a different punctuation mark, etc?

The method of reporting was modified and there seemed to be the possibility of a change in how many product may get reported based on the "new" criteria. Of course as pointed out, there may be the possibility that the file has not been updated...

I verified that the stats_products_purchased.php file is identical in TEST to the one found in the 1.5.6c download.

In terms of renaming products... there might have been a few over the years, but nothing sweeping like we are seeing now with the reports.

Any thoughts on what to do next?

So by reverting back to the old SQL query format in this thread I was able to get the expected results.

I am stoked it's producing the results we expect, but can someone explain the difference in the old and new queries?
