    Default Custom changes

I found this link which states that I am supposed to create my own custom folder, so that when a future update is applied, custom changes will not be lost.

Is this procedure still valid for the newest version of ZenCart.

    I would guess it does.

Absolutely still true. There is a plugin also that can make such "generation" easier called Clone a Template.

Mind you, after an upgrade where that new template structure may be transferred, that the template override files should be compared to the equivalent files of the new version and any updates made incorporated. This way, the modifications remain and the updates are incorporated.

Yes, that's the way to do it. Anywhere you see a "classic" folder, you can create a folder named with your template name, and override files in there.

A good shortcut to have on the desktop is a link to the html file found at https://www.zen-cart.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=1393.
