How to add manufacturer to product info page

I am trying to add manufacturer to product info page. I don't know if it was there when I started or if sometime over the last few years I removed, but if I removed it I cannot find where I did it at?

Assuming that your site's current template honors the Zen Cart configuration settings,

1. Navigate to your admin's Catalog->Product Types
2. Click the "edit layout" button associated with the product type (Product - General is for the products displayed on the product_info page).
3. Set Show Manufacturer to 1 to include that information in the display.

I am using the basic zen green. I do not see those listings there. I did have a crash a few months back and did a restore. If I wanted to reinstall product types how would I go about doing that?

That 'basic green' (aka template_default) template will honor those settings.

I see product types. When I click on it, it brings me to:

Product - General
Product - Music
Document - General
Document - Product
Product - Free Shipping
Displaying 1 to 5 (of 5 product types)

When I click on Product - General, edit layout, I only have two options:

Show Condition
Show Product Description

My other site shows a bunch of options.

Hmm, some plugin that you installed has apparently 'creamed' those settings. Just to make sure, you're running Zen Cart 1.5.4?

You are right, something did cream it.

I inserted into the database the, product_type_layout the information from my good site database. Now when I click on catalog-product types-general-edit layout, the option for show manufacturer is there. I set it to show, and it is showing on my site now.

I guess I will insert all the product type layout from good site database into bad site database to get things where they should be.

I got one more question, now that I have the products type all complete, I need to my manufacturer into the database for the products.

I have only one manufacturer but over 2,000 products. How do I sql so I update the manufactures_id in the product table without having to do it one product at a time?

Are you wanting all product to have that manufacturer_id or just some? If some, what criteria could be used to differentiate? (e.g. All product over a certain price, all product in a given master category, all product with the word green in the description)
