Is there a plugin that allows customers to upload pictures or files when placing an order?
I make custom products and need customers to design their own pictures when ordering.
I used the opencart system to achieve the effect map.
Does the zencart system have such a plug-in?

That's already a built-in feature: set a FILE attribute on the product, and the customer will attach their uploaded file as part of adding the product to the cart.

The files once uploaded are in a way "quarantined", though there are some expectations that the file's meet. For example, there is a default set of file extensions that are permitted and there is an ability to modify that list. The file when uploaded is named to associate with an order, but out of the box, Zen Cart requires the admin to access the file by ftp. Doing so allows the admin to place the file somewhere that it can be scanned prior to use/access. This also means that at that point there is no software of the ZC variety that accesses the uploaded file.

I believe though that there is a module that allows "retrieval" of the uploaded file(s) from within the admin screen.
