Help required for creating a search by sizes..

hi there

i need some help please.

I have set up a shop selling shoes.

How can i have it where there is a box or part of the site where the customer can choose his or her size and then the results are displayed to cater for the search?

Any help would be appreciated

You could use the Dynamic Attribute Filter addon

156c method USING Multiple Categories Link Manager

1. Assume Category Men's Shoes
2. Make Category Men's Size ## for every Men's size that you carry
3. Go to an existing shoe
4. Click on Copy (Blue-circled C at right of product)
5. Click on Multiple Categories Link Manager
6. Product's Master Category is displayed
7. Click on all applicable sizes for the particular product
8. Click Update Category Links
9. Repeat with next product

156c method NOT USING Multiple Categories Link Manager

1. Assume Category Men's Shoes
2. Make Category Men's Size 14
3. Go to an existing shoe that has size 14 available
4. Click on Copy (Blue-circled C at right of product)
5. Under Categories, select Men's Size 14
6. Copy Method is Link
7. Copy Product Attributes is N/A as this is a Link
8. Click Copy
9. Repeat with next product

You can see that, initially, using the Multiple Categories Link will get you set up faster. Single links can be done as items are added.

Whether you consider it a viable feature or not, attributes always go with a link. So, even if customers go to a 14, they can still order a 15 (if available) of the item.

I would consider this a feature if a particular shoe needs to be a half-size larger due to the toe of the shoe.

User clicks on 14, description mentions to order a half-size larger, customer selects 14.5 and adds to cart.

Which? The software recommended by Design75 or the process (though not sure directly related to the request) identified by dbltoe. If to what dbltoe suggested, I would expect that based on his writeup the answer is yes, related to the software identified by Design75, I would suspect it would, but as always suggest testing on a test installation so as not to affect the live site...
