I was troubleshooting a problem with the Square Payment module and I came across a bug in the code. It was in \includes\functions\plugin_support.php on line 70:
It turns out that my Admin site had been taking about 15 seconds to load a page and that it was because the plugin_support.php file was looking up a page (for each installed plugin) on the Zen-Cart website that no longer existed. This polling of the Zen-Cart website was timing out.Code:[20-Feb-2020 11:28:32 America/Chicago] PHP Warning: file_get_contents(https://plugins.zen-cart.com/versioncheck/156): failed to open stream: HTTP request failed! HTTP/1.0 400 Bad Request in \www\store\includes\functions\plugin_support.php on line 70
The version of Zen-Cart I'm running is v1.5.5e.
To fix the bug, I just commented out the code that was requesting the non-existent webpage and had the function return success. I figured I could keep up on my plugin versions myself and not have my ecommerce store dependent on another website in order to work properly.

I believe the communication code bug was fixed as part of v1.5.6The version of Zen-Cart I'm running is v1.5.5e..

You can also navigate to your admin's Configuration->My Store->Show if version update available ... and change that setting to false.
