Currency issue

after My Store I forgot to add Switch to default language currency = True

after trying to edit, I seem to have lost my original content.

I'm using Zen Cart v1.5.6c fresh install
I have 1 product currently, price in catalog = £4.99
Price shown in store shows $6.43

I've changed the default currency to GBP, then it shows $4.99
If I remove all currencies except GBP it shows 0 with currency symbol.

At the minute, I'm using a fudge by telling Zen Cart that the symbol for USD is £ so that it shows £4.99.
