ZC Installed, Can Access Admin, But Shop Won't Show Up

I'm stumped on how to get my ZenCart to show up! I've searched the Forum, online, and can't find anything that fixes this ... I have a bajillion browser tabs open, and I'm spinning in circles at this point...

Fresh install, Ver 1.5.6b

Using BlueHost. I have a web site on the WordPress.org platform, and I want my shop as part of that site.

Shop to be accessed here: www.annranlett.com/ar_shop , the ar_shop subfolder (under public_html) has all the ZC files in it.

www.annranlett.com is accessible, but the ar_shop is not, when I put annranlett.com/ar_shop in my browser, I get a blank screen, no error message, just a blank screen.

To log in to ZC Admin, I use this URL:
annranlett.com/ar_shop/pupPy-PhY-******/admin
I have access to all the Admin stuff, but I cannot view the shop from the Storefront option in Admin either. This URL comes up (http://annranlett.com/ar_shop/index.php?main_page=index), but again, blank page.

Reading some threads in the forum, I thought maybe it's an .htaccess issue, so I copied the .htaccess file from the “pupPy.....” folder to the ar_shop folder. That didn't make any difference.

I'm sure I'm just missing some silly simple thing, but for the life of me, I can't figure it out!


Here's the file structure:

First, make sure the admin has the correct .htaccess file. They're probably not interchangeable.

Second, check you includes/configure.php and YOUR_ADMIN/includes/configure.php to make sure the settings match for the catalog.

Make sure you don't have a 301 redirect problem sending you in circles.

PS You should be installing 1.5.6c if this is a new install.

And, to save you from having this problem installing 1.5.6c, here's a synopsis of what to do with a cPanel initial install.

1. Use cPanel to upload the zip of the latest version
2. Extract the zip in cPanel File Manager
3. Rename the folder to ar_shop or whatever you want to work with
4. Create the database
5. Assign a user/password to the database
6. Set database permissions for the user and that database
7. Go to YOUR_SITE.com/YOUR_FOLDER
8. Click on the CLICK HERE in the first paragraph.

Installing this way will allow the installer to correctly detect and use the proper settings. You will need to set the SSL settings to match your SSL and provide the database info for your created database.

Just follow the steps to installation. When you're ready to go public, you can redirect to that directory or move it to the root.

First chance I've had to get back in here and check for replies. Too much other weirdness going on, plus a slower than normal internet - just haven't been in the right head space to tackle this...

Thank you dbltoe!! I don't know how I had screwed it up before, but with your guidance and a fresh install, it's working now. I have a LOT to figure out, but at least I have a visible shop! Much appreciated
