Move to new server

Hello,

I am attempting to move a Zen Cart installation from one server to another on the same host. I followed the procedure in this FAQ https://www.zen-cart.com/content.php...fferent-server and the site tested OK.

What I am unsure about is that the fresh install on the new server was done on a temporary url so the two configure.php files (admin and store) reflect this temporary url ..... I have not changed the DNS yet but when I do change DNS from the existing server where the site is live to this new server I expect there will be a conflict with the configure files?? ..... so after changing DNS can I simply change the url address(es) in the configure files to match the domain and then the site will resolve properly ... or cannot that be done??

If the above cannot be done then what is the solution in respect to installing and testing an existing live site, in another server before changing DNS? i.e. overcome the url used at install ?

When you update the DNS, update the 2 configure files to use the real URL (vs the temporary one there now).

Many thanks Scott - I thought as much but wasn't sure and even the new FAQ above doesn't cover it :) - now having issues in logging in to admin after changing configure files - no responses at all to 'forgot password' email so will look for a way to force password change - must be a post in here somewhere. I would have assumed that dumping all tables in new DB and importing old DB would mean existing (old) passwords would still be valid ?
