1.5.6c Admin Configuration Converting Characters

In Admin configuration I have noticed some fields that are converting some characters to html equivalents and then the html equivalents will get duplicated. For example in email options using this format -> Name 1 <email@address1>

It will change the < > to

Code:

 &lt; &gt;

but then won't save them correctly.

Anyone seen this?

This is a known bug in 1.5.6. It is fixed in 1.5.7. Until that is available, you'll have to use phpMyAdmin to edit fields with special characters in them.

You can also use the ZC admin's tools->install sql patches route and not have to login to phpmyadmin to assign those database values.

Anyone have a list of the code that was changed to correct this in 1.57 so we can rework it and get 1.56c working?

@Twitch the whole configuration validation stuff was enhanced in 1.5.7 -- it's kinda hard to backport all of that to 1.5.6
Some of the intermediate commits were buggy, so even following those doesn't provide a solid path to build a partial fix that doesn't require all the additional schema alterations that have been added.
