define pages not showing in sidebar after install via Installatron

Hi guys, I am working on a new install of zen, latest version 1.5.7, its offline at the moment.
I have followed the tutorial on creating your own template: https://www.zen-cart.com/content.php...ustom-template
The template is in and loaded in Admin.

If I add content to a define page file and then check the site, nothing shows up.
Sideboxes/information.php is turned on in the Layout boxes controller.

The information sidebox is just designed to show links; there's no associated define page with it.

Yes understand that thanks, what I am having trouble with is adding content to the centre of the main page.
If I edit the main_page.php in admin/tools/define pages editor nothing shows up on the site. I am missing something simple for sure, I have gone through every setting I can find in admin to see what turns what on and off, and I cannot figure out how to get the define pages to sho up.
I want to use the conditions page, the privacy one, and others, but am at a loss, have spent hours googling this and trying to find something in the help files.

OK, I noticed in your first post you linked the OLD content for how to create a template.
Let's get you looking at the new content first:

Then let's check to be sure it's being used: go to Admin > Tools > Template Selection and verify that the template shown is your newly created one.

Now go to Admin > Tools > Define Pages Editor, and select define_main_page.php.

If you have not created a new copy of define_main_page.php in includes/languages/english/html_includes/YOURTEMPLATE
then you will be editing the one in includes/languages/english/html_includes/define_main_page.php

Make a change, press save, then refresh the storefront. You will see your change.

Sorry for the delay, too much on right now. Yes the template is active and showing in admin.
Yes I have define_main_page.php inside my template.

I created the template folder, then copied all the files from responsive_classic into it, did this for all the new YOURTEMPLATE folders as I am using responsive classic but wanted to make sure my customization wouldn't be lost in any upgrades.

I go to the new template folder, open define_main_page.php and the code I entered in Admin > Tools > Define Pages Editor > define_main_page.php is there, but nothing shows on the website.

I dont really want to post up the URL in public as its not directed yet and not finished and might not be 100% secure. Happy to send you more details in pvt msg if you could take a look at the layout, might be something obvious there.

it's possible your template doesn't use define_main_page.php then. Not sure.

Does anyone have any ideas on where to look to figure this out? the template is active and when you go into editing in admin the string points to my template in the correct directory with the correct php file shown. I am confused!

At the risk of stating the obvious, I know you've checked the settings in Admin but I assume the Define Main Page Status is 'On'.

Actually those flags might be worth checking too. Be sure when you go to Admin > Configuration > Define Page Status that the flag for Define Main Page Status is either 1 or 2.

Yes, I should have been more specific - rather than just saying 'On'
