Order with no items

Hi,

I've recently experienced an error that I'm not seem before. I have an order, which has no item lines, but does have a order total. The payment method was PayPal/E-check and I can see in the log that there was an error on the insert to PayPal table (mc_fee)

PHP Fatal error: 1366:Incorrect decimal value: '' for column `xxxx`.`paypal`.`mc_fee` at row 1 :: INSERT INTO paypal (order_id, txn_type, module_name, module_mode, reason_code, payment_type, payment_status, pending_reason, invoice, mc_currency, first_name, last_name, payer_business_name, address_name, address_street, address_city, address_state, address_zip, address_country, address_status, payer_email, payer_id, payer_status, payment_date, business, receiver_email, receiver_id, txn_id, parent_txn_id, num_cart_items, mc_gross, mc_fee, settle_amount, settle_currency, exchange_rate, notify_version, verify_sign, date_added, memo) VALUES <snip>

I'm not sure if this the root cause or just a symptom of the problem order. If there any further logging that I can perform? or any way to find any further details \?

Your Zen Cart version is very old.
There have been many updates to the core Zen Cart code in v1.5.6 and v1.5.7 to accommodate stricter database-field-type rules imposed-by-default on newer versions of MySQL. By upgrading your store to the latest Zen Cart version you will make it more compatible with the newer MySQL and PHP that are running on your server.

Options in the meantime: manually fix the PayPal module to send a numeric/float value instead of a string, or at least compare all the paypal code on your site against the latest in the v157 code to find patches you might put onto your old version. You could also explore setting your MySQL mode to less strict.
