Default Should I use a Plugin that's not listed as compatible with my Zen Cart version?

    .
Hello! Here's the zen cart information for this question:

    • I have installed zen cart v1.5.7 with PHP v7.3.19 and MySQL 5.6.41-84.1
    • I have a complete back-up of the site ("just in case")
    • I want to install plugins
      • Columns Grid Layout
      • EasyPopulate V4 (LATEST)
      • URL Redirection Manager
      • Ultimate SEO URLs

Question: Does it matter if I have installed zen-cart v1.5.7 and the plugin I want to use shows the zen-cart versions as v1.5.6 or v1.5.5?

The plugins list what version of zen-cart they were tested with and most of the ones I would like to use are indicating v1.5.6. Others I've considered show v1.5.5. I have yet to see one that I wanted to use that shows v1.5.7.

Do I need to be concerned?

Anything you can share about this would be helpful (caveats, tips, "no worries", etc.).

    Thank you!

    A couple of points:

    - Your best source of information on a plugin is that plugin's support thread if it exists.
    - Older plugins that don't overwrite core files often work just fine.
    - If an older plugin does overwrite core files, you'll need to figure out the changes that were made and apply them to the newer version of the files that you have.

I can't 'speak to' the other three plugins, but so long as you've also applied the various patches for zc157 (https://www.zen-cart.com/showthread....v1-5-7-series), especially the one in post #8 of that thread, Ultimate SEO URLs should be just fine.

And nothing was introduced in or expected by ZC 1.5.7 that specifically has a negative affect on EP4.

Hey swguy! These are great tips - especially the one about the core files. That's very helpful.

    Thanks, Scott! It's appreciated.
