Default Paypal on payment page for account holders logged in

We use paypal express checkout, which is great for new customers. But if a returning customer has logged into our site, the paypal express button does not appear for them on the shopping cart screen. And Paypal does not appear as an option on the payments page.

How can we offer paypal as a payment option on the payments page? that is, the button allowing them to go to paypal for payment.

I apologize if this is on the forum somewhere, but i cannot find it - or at least cannot derive the right search phrase to narrow down to the correct result.

    TIA.

By default the Express Checkout option appears for everyone, regardless of having an account or not.

You may have set the module's configuration settings to have it not display the button.

On the "payment options" page PayPal shows as a radio-button along with other payment choices, but without any associated fields like credit-card inputs. It always shows. There's no way to turn this radio-button off if you have Express Checkout installed and enabled on your site.

So as far as built-in code goes, there's little explanation for the symptoms you describe.
I suspect something in your template or your site customizations has changed the normal operation.

Thank you DrByte. Completely uninstalling paypal express from the payment modules and re-installing it seemed to fix everything.
Thank you for taking the time to reply.
