    red flag Help - site down!

    I need some quick help. Not even sure what happened here. Website is displaying the following error in our log:

    [08-Jan-2021 11:53:03 America/Los_Angeles] PHP Fatal error: require(): Failed opening required '' (include_path='.:/opt/cpanel/ea-php72/root/usr/share/pear') in /home/mjmmagic/public_html/store/includes/templates/template_default/templates/tpl_index_default.php on line 39

    Any idea what happened?

    Background: We have the One Page Checkout module, and I did a change in the template_default/tpl_modules_opc_credit_selections.php file. That's when I immediately saw the error on our website.

    So I quickly reverted all changes back (by control+Z my edits) but that didn't fix anything.

    I need help because our site is not displaying correctly and I don't know what happened!

    SOLVED with the help of Lat9! Somehow, our /pages/ directory got deleted and she was able to point that out! Thankfully we had a backup and that resolved the issue! Lat9 is a lifesaver!

    Something to consider: was the mysterious "delete" actually an accidental drag-and-drop, where you mistakenly moved it inside another folder? Just something to check, in case you now have unexpected stuff sitting somewhere.

    I get this error on a regular basis. I follow the following steps when I get a Server 500 error which because of how Apache works you can't generate a custom error page for it. I do the following.

    1. If Admin is working, I read the error messages via the admin panel. If otherwise, I read then via the Host cPanel. I look for fatal errors only, not warnings.

    2. I look at the files that are stopping the script which is usually a missing file or fatal PHP or Javascript error. Fix those then try again.

    3. That fails, then I scrub the website and reinstall my last working backup.

    I back up both PHP and MySQL before I install the next plug-in or edit script and then I backup again if the install or script edit is successful. I maintain daily backups. I screwed things up enough to know I better back up my work meticulously.

    Also watch your permissions. When you wipe your website and install a backup for the script, permissions are not right. Refer to Zencart documentations on what folders need permissions set. Your /includes/configuration.php files should be set at the lowest setting that will allow it to be read but not written to. Same with index.php in your root. I had my websites hacked a few times so I do some added security things through both the host and write restrictions where I can without skewering the script functionality.
