• Has your site been upgraded? When? From what version(s)? 1.56b

• If you've upgraded, HOW did you upgrade? (official upgrade procedure or an automated script from your hosting company?) official upgrade procedure through freelancer so I'm cleaning up that mess and can't be 100% sure

CLIENT is copying information from payment processor into editor on order page

Client is using Microsoft Edge and that is intractable given client's how do you say.

Client was forced to control-v rather than paste via menu, I have no idea if this is part of things so I'm adding it

When client pastes HTML formatted from payment processor invoice into order page editor comments, the WYSIWYG editor accepts the paste as formatted HTML and displays it that way.

BUT when order comment is saved, the editor adds lots of vertical space between each paragraph or break (not sure which) and generally lengthens the comment to double or triple original format in height.

When one views that same comment under the INVOICE button rather than the EDIT button, the HTML is displayed as if it were text

First observations:
- you said you just upgraded to v1.5.7c ... but 1.5.7c isn't released yet. Where did you get that?
- your "undefined variable" warnings are probably a result of your old template not having been upgraded. Some things were updated in v157
- the "PHP Warning: Use of undefined constant TEXT_PRODUCTS_MODEL" is probably a result of your language files not being upgraded. Some defines were relocated/centralized in v157
- downgrading PHP versions is not going to change any of this

Regarding the HTML being rendered as HTML, in v156 it always showed raw HTML.

In v157 it was changed to show raw HTML for the first-displayed non-blank comment, in case that comment was entered by the customer (which could have contained malicious html),
and then for subsequent comments (such as would typically be provided by the administrator) it renders the HTML as HTML, so that clickable links can be provided to things like a tracking-number lookup etc.
