    Default No upgrade option 157c

    Upgrade existing sandbox.

Upload zipped 157c fileset to server root.
Delete existing admin & includes folders from server to ensure unnecessary files are not present after install.
    Unzip 157c files

    Run zc_install
Database detected. No option to upgrade.
Only option is to perform a "Clean Install" and delete the database contents.
Is this expected and considered normal? If so, I can complete the install and then drop all the new db tables and restore a 156c backup and rerun zc_install.

If the database name in your configure.php file already contains a v157 database then there's no database upgrade step required.
You'll note that in the Release Announcement and all the upgrade-related docs, that it mentions specifically, and sometimes in bold text, that there is no database-upgrade step required between v157/v157a/v157b/v157c releases. (And over the years there's typically not been any db change required between "letter"-ed version numbers.)

So my only option is a clean install to wipe the existing database and start over as an upgrade as a new install.

By deleting the includes and admin folders before extracting the 157c files, there is not likely to be a valid configuration file which is why I am confused.

The site is currently unavailable 403 after unzipping the 157c files

Just create includes/configure.php and admin/includes/configure.php with the correct database info, and you will see the "Upgrade" button.

Rick, what's the goal here? If you have a v157 site already, why are you trying to do a database-upgrade?

But it DOES recognize an existing database, so that link doesn't apply to this situation.

If you have begun the upgrade process by going to YOURSITE.com/zc_install, but you don’t see an Upgrade … button, it means the system can’t recognize your existing database.

This is my sandbox. I didn't check anything before beginning because I probably abandoned things due to bugs. I am just running the installer expecting things to work since I deleted all the previous files. I have always just deleted files, uploaded/upzipped and perform an install from there. This screen was not typical of my past rememberances.

I have learned that manually creating files or manually applying patches gets people in trouble down the line when those patches don't make it to future releases or even bugfiles list.

How do you know it recognizes an existing database? I thought you said there was no Upgrade option.

Sorry to stir the hornet's nest.

Something just didn't look right so I thought it best to ask/say something.

I will just proceed as I would have in the past and let it wipe the database during an install and then drop the tables and import my 156c db and step through the upgrade again.
