SMTP email stopped working - getting SMTP Connected Failed

Report that to your hosting company. Looks like they've broken DNS on your server.

I actually told them on the 31st when the last email to go to a client has a number instead of the domain name. They said there was nothing wrong with the DNS. But i will point to the above and this thread and see what they say.

No luck with NewTek here is their reply
From all the data we have sent you is confirming that this is not a DNS issue and not a server related issue. This is a development issue and needs to be addressed with a developer. If you do not have a developer we can get you a quote on how much it would cost for us to look into this for you.

Most unfortunate. Too bad their own tech support can't see that it's their own server config that can't properly lookup their own other server within their own network!

i would not throw them under the bus so quickly... i agree that there is no doubt a server config issue, but where is the following address coming from:

mailx7.newtek.webhosting.com

that does not resolve on my machine...

That is the one they told me to use over the phone. They also gave me another maila3... Same results. Originally it was mail.[mydomain].com. None work.

--> PHP Warning: escapeshellcmd() has been disabled for security reasons

well, now i will go with i am not a fan of this host. they need to be able to provide to you the name that resolves for sending of emails.

which does not resolve to anything. to me, this is not a sign of a good host... beyond giving you names of mail servers that are unreachable as well.
