I encountered the same problem as in this post and tried to add code to configure.php:
.HTML Code:Define ('DIR_WS_IMAGES','')
After adding this code, the picture path in the back end of our website has been modified, but the front end has not changed. Do I still need to modify any files?

includes/configure.php is generally write protected and needs to be made writable. (444 to 644) before saving your change. More than likely this is the issue experienced in trying to change the path on the front end.

Defining it to a blank value is probably a very bad idea. Why did you choose blank?

FWIW, I also found this (https://electrictoolbox.com/aliasing...erver-htaccss/) link indicating how image-accesses could be redirected to keep a single image directory for production vs. test sites.
