Default General question about a new install

    hello,
I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction. I need a front page slider / image carousel. Like only the eBay main page.

Size:	29.7 KB
ID:	19610

And i need to have the links show up horizontally like the screen shot below.

I tried the plugin in section but all of the stuff that comes up is for older version of zencart. Could someone tell me where to find some plugin pages or download for these things , it would be greatly appreciated.

So sometimes, though not always, a plugin that doesn't yet indicate that it is compatible with a newer ZC version is that way because no one has reported success at using it. Those that have tried it and had problems have missed out on their opportunity to help by not reporting the issues.

Long and short of it is, if going to start with a new install and going to test and develop, why not try some of these, maybe even fix it/them if they don't work great with the latest version or at least provide some feedback for the next person and as necessary, move on to the next?

If I recall correctly, this should work:

Perfecto! thank you so much swguy. That slider works great. I am looking at "Ezpages Footer Columns support" for the other plugin ( I actually didn't even know what to call it before finding that one. ) some posters are saying it works with 1.5.7 with small modification.

this is the test site I am using

while I do not posses the skill to develop or change any of them , I will document here what worked for me so the next person can know which they can use as you suggested. This way someone in the future who has my same problem will be able to find my post via search. Thanks so much for the help in any event guys .

while that slider may work great, i do not recommend it.

it makes use of jquery 1.7.1. you can see the version history here:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JQuery#Release_history

ZC v157 has jquery 3.5.1 as part of the default template; the same for the ZCA bootstrap template.

i see potential jquery conflicts happening down the line.

i guess i can use it till i find something else that maybe won't cause in any future problems ? Its not spitting out any error logs and works seamlessly so far. Are their any alternatives that you can maybe recommend ? More options the better :)

jquery conflicts will manifest themselves in the console log of your browser. i find them MUCH harder to troubleshoot than php error logs, but my foo on jquery is not nearly as strong...

i'm currently updating a client site to use this slider:

    https://github.com/ganlanyuan/tiny-slider

but right now a low priority and the odds of me packing a slider up for a ZC plugin are probably not good.

wish i had something better to recommend for you, but alas i do not.
