Default GZip Extension while loading new store

For a new install I am getting the following

Name:	Screen Shot 06-19-21 at 02.00 PM.jpg
Views:	86
Size:	27.2 KB
ID:	19644

but when I run PHP info it shows the following

Name:	Screen Shot 06-19-21 at 02.01 PM.jpg
Views:	85
Size:	56.3 KB

I may be missing something here but it looks like I do have this enabled.

    Thanks Guys!

I was able to test this and Gzip is indeed working. I am not sure why I was getting that message from the installer.

    be confused no longer!

in my experience, the system checker for installs/updates is far from perfect. it makes educated guesses based on various values.

in this case, it looks like the system checker is looking at the value for output_buffering. if that value is true, it things gzip is installed.

if you go admin -> tools -> server/version info and then look for output_buffering, what is the value there?

    best.

The implementation of gzip support uses the ob_start() and related functions from the output_buffering features of PHP, hence why the legacy test for whether gzip can be supported has been based on whether output_buffering is enabled.
