Filecount keeps rising

We have been unable to upload any more files to our site due to hitting the file limit with our host.
The number of files shown in cpanel is over 250'000, which seems extreme considering we do not have a vast amount on the site.
We figured most of this number must be coming form the actual site itself, so we began removing things we do not need, such as old and extra product images and old debug log files, but every time we delete anything from the FTP server the file number starts to go up instead of down. It's although the system is duplicating or backing up files and logs, but for the life of me I cannot figure out why this is happening and how I can lower our file numbers. It's like one step foward and two steps back atm

What does your host have to say? Do you have something like cPanel or Plesk?

Ok we managed to track the problem down to the debug files located within the logs folder.
It looks like it stems back to when we paid for a company to upgrade and add some features to the site and since then it has been generating about 20+ debug files a day.
Over the coarse of time they have been building up until our file limit was exceeded.
We have managed to delete most of them now, but obviously they will just start filling back up again until the error is corrected. Unofortunately I am not sure what to do from here.

You've got a down-level version of /includes/functions/html_output.php. zc157 (all versions) check that CSS_BUTTON_POPUPS_IS_ARRAY is defined prior to use.

What is the history of the site? Did you hire someone to perform an upgrade?

yes we did. we paid for zencart- templates to upgrade the site and add some extra features on there. We've used them twice before without issue

it might be an easy fix..... then again it may not....

this error should not come up in v157. and as previously stated, it is related to this file:

/includes/functions/html_output.php

which looks like your previous person who upgraded the site made some changes to the file, as the line number on the error does NOT correspond to a line number on a un-modified version of that file from any previous version of ZC.

you can use a file difference tool to compare differences; but the fact that someone else modified a previous version of that file means having a "little" experience with php code could be of benefit.

someone with experience could probably get it fixed quickly. walking you through it may take some time depending on the file modifications.

you could try changing line 339 on that file as follows:

//from
if (CSS_BUTTON_POPUPS_IS_ARRAY == 'true') {
//to
if (defined('CSS_BUTTON_POPUPS_IS_ARRAY') && CSS_BUTTON_POPUPS_IS_ARRAY == 'true') { 

if line 339 looks different than that line.... well... not sure where to do with that....

unfortunately, there could be other problems related to having an older version of the file as well.
