upgrading mysql

Database Engine: MySQL 5.1.73
zc latest 1.5.7c

what's the latest version i can upgrade to in mysql before zc breaks? i just want to make sure that i don't upgrade to mysql and find out zc doesn't work with it

Zen Cart v1.5.7 expects MySQL 5.1 to 8.0, or MariaDB 10.1 to 10.5

Note: future versions of Zen Cart including v1.5.8 will require PHP 7.3+.

Zen Cart v1.5.7 is designed for PHP 5.6 through PHP 8.0 (below v157c may trigger some errors on PHP 8)

ok so this lady is telling me she can upgrade mysql through zencart. i told her we are running 1.5.7c and need to upgrade mysql to 5.6. she says she can do it through zen cart. i told her no, if you upgrade 1.3xx to 1.5xx for example, zencart will update some database tables or whatever but it will not update mysql versions. am i right?
