Do presence of zenid in URL hurts SEO ?

My client says this

"is there anyway to Stop zen from Adding all this superficial junk at the end of some of my page links? like the Zen IDs?

If a site has a sticky zenid parameter, that implies that there's some issue with the site's session setup.

Sounds like a good excuse to move off 1.5.5 to the latest. Lots of improvements and a current version can be had in just a little more time than fixing the sticky id.

Indeed just updating to a newer PHP and Zen Cart version has caused the sticky zenid to go away, in my experience.

i am a huge fan of upgrading any ZC site to the current version. 157 has numerous improvements over 155.

for those store owners who have a mature, ie highly customized site, the amount of work necessary to make the jump from 155 to 157 can be tremendous. i have spent an inordinate amount of time doing some upgrades.

i am not of the opinion that doing an upgrade is just a little more work than fixing the sticky id. every site is different, and for a very generic site, perhaps that is true. but for the sites that i work on, i would say no, as in absolutely not.
