    Default v1576 Customer Search Store Issue

    I recently upgraded to Zencart v1.5.7c and everything works fine except the customer search. The search in admin works perfectly.

    When any customer uses the store search, they receive the message "WARNING: An Error occurred, please refresh the page and try again." I'm using PHP 7.4.26. No plugins except the top banner rotation.

    But when they refresh the page or hit F5 the search goes through and works. I tried changing templates, the same thing happens. It does the same thing on any computer or with any web browser I use. Can anyone tell me what would cause a situation like this?

    When you get that message, a log file is created. Please post the log.

    I looked and there has been no mydebug log files created there since I upgraded.

    From what version did you upgrade? Have you attempted to purposefully generate a debug log? Doing so would help identify what is causing the errors not to be logged.

    How was the upgrade performed?

    Also what other software was included to your install/upgrade?

    Short answer to the original question, an error exists in the interaction between the customer's provided data and what the site attempts to display. Could be any number of things between extra or missing code, a database issue, or the like.

    I upgraded from version 1.5.1 to v1.5.7c
    I'm sorry, I don't know how to purposefully generate a debug log.
    I upgraded using the Zencart upgrade option in the installation process. I received no error messages or conflicts.
    No other software was included in my install/upgrade. I tested everything and all seems to work as intended, including the search in the administration area. Nothing but the catalog search seems to be a problem. Also may not be anything but I don't understand why the search works when the page is reloaded, but not when someone clicks on the search button? I'm at a loss to figure this out. Why everything else works without any problems, but not the search?

    Where did your abagonr_red template come from? I'm guessing that it's got something to do with the issue.

    Check, too, the admin's Configuration :: Logging settings. I'll suggest (for now) that you enable storefront logging using the IgnoreDups setting.

    You can also use the admin's Modules :: Plugins to install the Display Logs plugin which might give you some additional insight into the 'missing' logs.

    Possibly. When I did set the admin logs, I now get error messages in the logs about abagonr_red/extra_var_defines.php on line 13.
