How can I make three extra languages?

French, Italian and Spanish

If I add three extra languages how do I switch between them?

Presuming I can add more than one.

I was first going to have three extra stores/catalogs but it takes too much space on the server, which would cost more.

My site has a switch at the top for the Languages can I use this to switch languages in a single store/catalog.

Will the languages switch in the products or do I have to enter the extra languages as I have done on my site at the moment?

Help would be appreciated before I go up the wrong path?

admin > tools > layout boxes controller
turn on the sideboxes/languages

Yes but then the user has to select the language.

How can I use my Region tabs to set the language Otherwise The point of my tab pointers will not work.

Thanks anyway maybe I can call the sideboxes before it goes to the store/catalog?

You can use those region tabs to send the customer off to webhouses.co.uk?language=en (English), webhouses.co.uk?language=fr (French), etc.

You'll still need to provide the language translations for each product in each language (that's not automatic).

Where is the sideboxes/languages turn on?

webhouses.co.uk/store/ ?languages=fr does not work for me as the storefront changes but still in English .

See by clicking the French button t webhouses.co.uk compare with normal UK button.

I see this in setting the french directory at the top an error message

MISSING LANGUAGE FILES OR DIRECTORIES ... French French

Any idea what has happened?

Having problems on copying in files

I cannot create a folder french in languages either I have set all as file permissions as 777
but I can make a file italian.php
This is a real puzzle?

Thanks you told me that the products have to be put in in the correct language.

I have it all wrong then. The Categories would still be in English then.

I now see I have to have a store/catalog for each language so the Front Page of the store will have the correct languages and the Categories will be in the correct languages.

I now will makes a store for each language.

I have also realized my problem with chmod 777 is for files and not folders.

I guess I did not install the site correctly by not setting the permissions before installing the store is the reason why the language package is failing to install with filezilla.

Real learning experience this one. My pointers will now go to the language default on each store so will not need ? language=fr

Why don't you just reinstall everything from the beginning in one store folowing the docs?
