Default My store is down, support at HostGator can't fix it, upgrade 1.5.1 to 1.5.7d HELP!

    dtmagazine.com/magstore

Today, went to open my admin and got the message: "Call to undefined function: mysql_connect(). Please install the MySQL Connector for PHP"

Went to HostGator for support. That was hours ago. They have now gotten to the point that when one clicks on the link above, it prompts a download of the index page. That's it.

HostGator upgraded to PHP 8.0. my 1.5.1 version isn't having any of it.

HostGator has Zen Cart on their platform, V 1.5.7d. My question, can I do an install on their site and save what work I've done on my 1.5.1 platform? Any ideas. I'm six hours into this already. Thanks in advance for anybody's help.

    They have Linux servers.

OK, I tried to do a fresh install on HostGator.

    the folder is dtmagazine.com/magshop

Went through all the protocols, very simple and got this:

The following errors were found :

Could not make the query numbered : 10
    MySQL Error No : 1064
MySQL Error : You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '.$resp.'', '', '', '', '2022-03-29 15:58:05', '', '2022-03-29 15:58:05', '2022-0' at line 5

    ------------------------------------------------
So, it's totally on their end. Pretty pissed off.

Just wondering if I can do a fresh install from my computer. But, if they have issues with their mySQL, is it worth it?

A lot depends on what additional features you've installed into that zc151 version of Zen Cart. Hopefully, you've made a database backup of the zc151 site's information prior to performing (what I understand from your message) as an auto-install via HostGator (not one of my favorite webhosts, BTW).

Did you go through a zc_install? You have to upgrade your 151 database to be in the 157 format.

in the Hostgator cPanel do they have the multiphp tool? check it and see if in there PHP5.6 is available, if it is switch your site to use it, then set up a sub-domain and set its PHP version to 7.4 or 8.0 and build your update in there.

They have the tool, but only offer 7,3 and 7.4.

Nobody has gotten back to me on this, there's no ticket system. Thinking it's time to switch hosting providers. Any suggestions.

From the start of this, I was getting the feeling these people were not competent. They broke it, can't fix it. Not at all pleased with this situation.

    Any suggestions on good hosts?

Just got off another chat with HostGator. Total incompetence. They broke it, can't fix it.

Seriously looking for a new host. Suggestions welcome.

Thanks for the suggestions on hosts. I need to make some decisions.

ZenCart is excellent and my first choice. My choice of hosts could have been better. I've been with them for maybe 10-12 years, but I think they were bought out by foreign interests and the service has suffered. They don't even have a ticketing system for support. Sad.

Still not fixed. Just got an email that says it's fixed and it's not.

Well, onward and upward. Or, straight down the tubes.
