Default upgrade from 1.5.4 to 1.5.7

    Goodmorning all,

I have a question, with former upgrades I just made a new store into the newest version and then I imported the old database. But now I have changed my webshop so much, that it would take too much time to start over again. Is there a way to update (a copy of) the whole site into 1.5.7?

I'm afraid there is no shortcut, the zen cart docs detailed upgrading/ show the process. I keep a set of my upgraded file seperaly then ckeck these against the changes made to the base cart each time. This saves me a lot of time. Over time a your files can become so different from the bass that you may need to start again understanding the changes you made to reprogram them back in to the base.

With such a jump, I feel you would be wasting time to not just start fresh.

MAYBE, if it were 1.5.5 and perhaps if 1.5.6 but, 1.5.4.......

You're just asking for continuous heartache.

Try setting up in a folder above the root so you can use a newer version of PHPO without breaking your store.

You might want to install an earlier version (1.1) of swguy's Mod List in your version 1.5.4 to help you identify the mods in the old shop.

Install clone a template right away in the new install to make a copy of the template you choose before messing with it.

not to hijack so basically if you are at 1.57c and want to go up to 1.57d, you can just go to the github and go to each file and make the changes as show here?

I'm agree with travbacon. For small version upgrades (from 1.57c to 1.57d, for example), it will be easier to compare all the different files between those two versions via github and make changes. For large version upgrades (from 1.56 to 1.57d, for example), this way also works but many files are modified so it will take some time to compare. Also there will be a database upgrade.

Now I prefer to use as few plug-ins as possible, so it will be easier for me to upgrade every time. In my experience, some plug-ins may take a couple of months or years to update for the new zc.

Better yet, the docs folder has a list of files that have changed.
I’m a bit paranoid and compare 1.5.7c to 1.5.7d removing identical files and the merge the new into my 1.5.7d
