Default DB Connection Problem - nddbc.html

I am running on older version of Zen Cart (1.3.9H) and using PHP v5.4. Yes I know I need to update this, I am working on the website owner to do so once we get it fixed.

The problem is my host recently upgraded the PHP from 5.4 to 7.0. I asked them to move it back to 5.4 which they did. After they moved the site back to PHP v5.4, now I have this problem.

    1. The admin area shows just fine.
    2. The homepage does not. See homepage here:

It has to be related to moving from PHP v5.4 to 7.0 and back. Why? It was working fine before. Not sure if its a PHP setting, but my homepage says Database is not connected. How is this possible if the back-end (admin) shows just fine? I just need to get this back up, then I can try and convince the client to finally upgrade.

[Note: remember to include site URL, ZC version, list of plugins, PHP version, etc ... read the Posting Tips shown above for information to include in your post here.

While I'm not convinced that a 'simple' move from PHP 5.4 to 7 and back would have any affect on the site's /includes/configure.php file, that's where the database settings are "registered" for use. That's where I'd check first, to make sure that the database 'credentials' are still referencing the site's database.

Thank you for your help, the site is now up again. You are correct the issue was a few tweaked settings in includes/configure.php settings which did not match the admin/includes/configure.php settings. There was also an issue with the .htaccess and my SEO rewrites. I just found an older version of both files and corrected.
