Check Out hangs but will send order to the admin side

ZC 1.5.7c, php7.4.16 installed new 4/4/2021 - no plug ins added
Finally I am getting my wife's site up and running after a year plus of on again off again tries.
Used Edge, Firefox, and Opera all do the same thing, tried several different computers at different locations.

My problem is:
I can add products to the shopping cart fine but at the last step after verifying shipping and payment then hitting the "Check Out" button, the site just hangs. I use the stop loading page "X" and then in the browser I hit go back one page, to the cart and that still shows all the items.

When I check the admin side, the order shows as pending, but the shopping cart still has the products in there.

Any help or guidance would be gratefully appreciated.

Two things come to mind.

First, you must have added some kind of payment method. What would that be?

Second, if you are just "getting it together", why use the version that doesn't have the latest payment updates? Seems really applicable in this situation.

You might have an error log in the /logs folder that would shed some light onto what's happening.

Thanks, I will update to the latest. Hopefully this will solve the problem.
I was just getting familiar with this version and did not want to throw a Wrench into something that may have been easily resolved by a permission thing.

I Must be a bit Brain dead,
this is what is in there

So this is where I shall start.
Another weird thig it shows eUrope/bErlin but I am in the USofA. hehe

combining xampp with PPHMailer and SMTP may be part of the problem.

Take a look at https://netcorecloud.com/tutorials/p...-to-smtp-host/ to see if that could be part of the problem.

As a quick workaround, you can turn off email temporarily while testing the rest of your site.
Admin > Configuration > Email Options > Send-Emails = false.

Turned off email and now it gives no warnings or errors.

at least now her customers will not get a locked screen, and makes us a bit more "Professional".
