You can probably speed up the process using these instructions:

Then just add in your language file changes and define pages - it's unlikely you made too many template changes, right?

There's also my ZX Gallery. I have no idea why, but none of my plugins show up when you do a search, even if you lookup "gallery" in the plugins, this won't show up. Weird...
Anyway, there's a demo available on my site if you want to see how it looks (and works).

I started again, downloading 1.5.7 and reloading all my data. It seemed easier than trying to do an upgrade!
Almost done.
I was still stuck on the gallery idea, but have just created a HTML Table with images and descriptions - it works! Could certainly be prettier, but it will do for now.
My consideration is going back to the fundamental principle of why one operates an ecommerce site, and what the business objective is.
In my (25 years') experience of building commercial websites, if the objective is to earn a living, then everything one does on their website must have the objective of making profitable sales. The key objective is to get customers to make purchases - and to try to get the highest Order Value possible. The only way you want people to leave your website is through the checkout pages, so everything you do on the site should guide (and encourage) visitors to do this.
Any add-ons, or distractions, diminish this goal - unless of course your gallery encourages people to add products to their cart and buy more.
If an add-on does not complement this objective, then don't have it there... Today's online shoppers are very fickle and distractions not only take their attention away from the core objective, but consume your valuable time in managing that (possibly unimportant) content.
