Default Braintree now wants SecurityMetrics tests

Not sure if this is just Security Metrics drumming up business, but it seems like Braintree has partnered with them and they (Braintree) want you to pass a SecurityMetrics test *and* have all the PCI documentation in place.

Could be a reason to switch to Square. We'll see.

ANYONE in cahoots with Security Metrics is just plain money hungry. Just sayin'. We (myzencarthost.com) have one of the few A+ ratings from SSLlabs but, we still have to give them five technical opinions for every false positive.

Checkout Security Metrics on Trustpilot or the BBB. Pretty horrifying.

What I can't figure out is if this is truly *required* by BrainTree or if it's just business development by Security Metrics.

Just got all tangled up with Security Metrics for my authorize.net connection. What a terrible process that is! There is a questionnaire page that has 14 seemingly endless links to answer, and on every page you can click "Learn and Buy" The basic charge is $199 and the full documentation package is $999. Looks like these people are crack marketing people!
When I called the Security Metrics contact, I was connected to Nathan, who led me through a series of increasingly complex and technical questions until I wasn't able to answer. It felt like it was a question tree, designed to get you to an impasse, so you had to default to their spendy solution.
I'm looking for other solutions as we speak.

PayPal and Square insulate you from this grief (at least for the time being). Good luck.

The reason I am using authorize.net is because about a year or so ago, Square wouldn't/couldn't support a change in php, or so I understood. Up to that point, I was using Square and was very happy with it. Is Square now OK to use with my ZC V158? I have found that Square is slightly more expensive than authorize.net, but at this point, that is not a determining factor. I still have a Square account and use their virtual terminal and iphone swipe functions, but not for ZenCart transactions.

You have to purchase the updated Square module from the developer. See:
