Default Paypal Pro fails 3DS 2.0 validation

    Hi,

Client site is ZC 1.5.7d and they have PayPal Pro as the active payment module.
The site is no longer able to recieve payment since the enforcement of 3DS 2.0 in the UK.

We suggested the client switch to Paypal Express Checkout, but when they spoke to Paypal, their response was

    "we require
existing users to upgrade to our Advanced Debit and Credit solution that
    supports EMV 3DS (3DS 2.0) for PSD2.

Our Advanced Debit and Credit solution enables highly customizable
custom-card fields and reduced PCI Compliance requirements. For more
information, see Set up advanced credit and debit card payments."

    Two questions.
    1. Has anyone else had a similar response from PayPal?
    2. Is there any work being done on a PayPal Advanced Debit and Credit module for Zen Cart?

    1. Not as Yet!
2 . Started using some months ago PayPal Express Checkout but hide the Express Checkout Button and add the following in shopping cart, and you need to configure the PAYPAL account correctly so the customer gets to choose payment (not ideal solution) :

"If you want to pay by credit or debit card you can use PayPal as the payment gateway. You do not need to have an account with PayPal

Please note if you are using PAYPAL EXPRESS CHECKOUT make sure you have the CORRECT address updated with your PAYPAL Account.

When checking out with PayPal you no longer need to have a PayPal account you can simply select pay by Credit/Debit card."

Info about the credit card option settings at https://myzencarthost.com/index.php?...d-Setting.html

There are other beneficial settings there as well.

You can switch to just using Paypal Express, so no idea why Paypal said they require an upgrade to the new solution.
When I was enquiring about a Zen Cart module for the new solution with Paypal I was told by Paypal merchant support
PayPal Express Checkout (Which is Available on Zen Cart) is 3DS compatible. We made sure that PayPal Hosted pages were 3DS Compatible before the cut off. However, the card payments are Guest Checkout rather than Direct Credit Cards.
If your client is looking for an alternative payment processor for credit cards, look into Breathe Payments.
They have a module for ZC 1.5x
I've signed up with them and the rates are good, with next day payout of funds available.

Takes a bit of getting used to having a separate portal for refunds etc but so far (2 weeks) I am happy with the service. Main complaint is that it takes customers off-site to a separate payment portal, but that is a minor quibble. They do provide a "how-to" for setting up a hosted fields solution but it's above my capabilities.
