Simple Membership [Support Thread]

This is the official support thread for the Simple Membership plugin.

This plugin allows you to offer a 1-month or 1-year membership at your store. It comes with a dedicated shipping module that you can use to give free shipping (or a different flat rate) for customers with an active membership. There are endless possibilities what you can offer with a membership, it's up to you.

Memberships will NOT renew automatically nor can be set as a subscription. Once the membership ends, it ends (but can be extended).

Customer will receive an email 3 days before the membership ends as a reminder their membership is about to expire and links to your site to extend their membership. The reminder email is sent only once.

If a customer doesn't extend their membership, an email is sent to notify them the membership has expired.

i just got around to install it on a test server.

For anyone installing this module, I had to rename one file .

from

/languages/english/module/lang.flat_membership

to

/languages/english/module/flat_membership

My install was not recognizing the name and would not let me install the shipping module.

For anyone else reading this - it applies ONLY to Zen Cart 1.5.7 or lower, it does not apply to 1.5.8

Any thoughts on how to make it auto renew instead of expired? Kind like a recurring payment with warning emails that membership will auto renew on this date.

Unfortunately, no. As mentioned in the plugin's description and the documentation:

Auto-renew would require integration with a payment plugin that supports recurring payments. From what I know, we currently don't have any payment plugins for Zen Cart that support that (I might be wrong). Perhaps auth.net CIM module can be used for it, but I'm not familiar with it. If it does support recurring payments, something probably could be done.

Thanks balihr for confirming it. We mostly use PayPal for payment processing so may look into that eventually when time permit.

It sure does! PayPal Subscriptions is something I'd love to see with Zen Cart, but until someone decides to build that plugin, there's not much I can do. If the plugin is built, I'll definitely do the best I can to get the membership plugin compatible with it.
