    Default Upgrading from 155f to 157d, all data in database is ignored

    Hello,

    157d is ignoring my database and starts with Initial Setup Wizard in the admin webpage. No data at all is present, customers, orders etc.

    I copied the 155 database using Phpmyadmin->Operations to a new database. Added a new user in cpanel, assigned to the new database, and added all permissions.

    configure.php in /includes and admin/includes both seem the same as the 155 versions. Database prefix is correct in configure.php, which is what I expected to be the problem. Install had no problems upgrading the database up to the 157 standard. There are no extra tables that look like they dont belong there (e.g. wrong or missing prefix). Phpmyadmin shows all the data is present.

    No error logs. PHP is 5.6.40. Ive tried deleting the database and starting over a few times.

    Thanks!
    Scott

    The zc_install processing will write a couple of files whose names are like zcInstall*.log to the site's /logs directory. Is there anything in there that would indicate that the process couldn't find some settings?

    The initial page of that processing also includes some text that might indicate why it's offering you an install only.

    Nothing in the log files looks significant. I just tried upgrading to 157c and even also to 156c. Delete the database each time, re-clone the 155f database, add user and permissions, unzip a fresh copy of the zencart version then run the installation. During the database section, I didnt notice it ever go to the screen where it says it needs to do the patch upgrade to 156 and then 157 etc. This seems significant. The admin server info page does say the database is at the correct patch level, but all data in the database is just ignored, it is like a completely fresh site. I always use mysite_ database prefix, maybe that hasnt been tested lately, but it seems that would have been caught quickly. It doesnt add any tables that are missing the prefix, so I think it works ok. Also the 156c and 157c versions I downloaded were .zip instead of .tar.gz, but not sure if that is a problem or not (157d I tried was .tar.gz).

    Ive upgraded before, I think I started in the 137's and never have seen this problem before.

    Thanks,
    Scott

    server info patch level after upgrading to 1.5.6c:
    v1.5.6c [2023-05-24 16:29:03] (New Installation-v156c)
    v1.5.6c [2023-05-24 16:29:03] (New Installation-v156c)

    current site at 1.5.5f:
    v1.5.5 [2017-11-24 17:55:00] (Version Update 1.5.4->1.5.5)
    v1.5.4 [2017-11-24 17:54:58] (Version Update 1.5.3->1.5.4)
    v1.5.3 [2017-11-24 17:54:57] (Version Update 1.5.2->1.5.3)
    v1.5.2 [2017-11-24 17:54:56] (Version Update 1.5.1->1.5.2)
    v1.5.1 [2017-11-24 17:54:54] (Version Update 1.5.0->1.5.1)
    v1.5.0 [2017-11-24 17:54:52] (Version Update 1.3.9->1.5.0)
    v1.3.9h [2017-11-24 17:54:48] (Version Update 1.3.8->1.3.9h)
    v1.3.8 [2008-01-07 17:34:50] (Version Update 1.3.7->1.3.8)
    v1.3.7 [2007-06-19 19:10:55] (Fresh Installation)
    v1.3.7 [2007-06-19 19:10:55] (Fresh Installation)

    The installations are completely ignoring the database, but seem to have no problem connecting to it with the username/password. When I typoed this, the installation does complain about not connecting to the database.

    On further inspection, the install clears the database on the Database Setup step rather than patching it.

    That begs the question as to where did you get the files you used? Make sure you used https://docs.zen-cart.com/history/v15x/

    This tells me you're pressing "Clean Install" rather than "Upgrade."

    Ok this is resolved. I installed with my normal failures, redid the database and reran the install, and this time it gave me the options to upgrade and clean install. The upgrade worked and things are now working. I swear it was not giving me any options before, just next or whatever. So not sure what was happening. I had noticed the upgrade/clean install options once early on but something else failed, and was wondering why it was never asking me that again. Not sure, but things are working and I dont want to touch anything.

    thanks for the help

    Thanks for confirming.
    BTW there's a later release than 1.5.7d - Zen Cart 1.5.8a is the current build.
