Can you be more specific - what are the URLs of the plugins you tested that had this issue so I can test?

Plugins are installing correctly. eg Printable Price list, Access Blocker etc
The mistake was entirely my fault in trying to work out why the other options are not displaying.

Understood.

I am fortifying both the What's New and Release Specific Upgrade Considerations page to say (after the text I quoted to you):

(Note: this means the menu items "All Listing," "New Listing" and "Featured Listing" under the Configuration Menu are no longer there; go to the Configuration > Product Listing menu instead.)

Hopefully this will make the change more explicit.

zc_install/includes /version.php has define('PROJECT_VERSION_MINOR', '0.0-rc1');

You have downloaded the wrong file then.

Go here: https://github.com/zencart/zencart/releases

Download rc2 zip, unzip. Observe that includes/version.php says rc2.

Downloaded the file linked in the notification last night. I see that the actual file and the zip file has been changed since then.

2.0.0-rc2 vanilla install, no plugins & stock Responsive Classic Template. PHP 8.1.27

The search header, although turned off in the layout boxes controller does not go away.

Right, for whatever reason, the built-in Responsive Classic template doesn't contain the 'flag' that indicates to the Layout Boxes Controller that it supports the single-column switches.

Update: Strike that, that template 'defers to' a site's setting of $uses_single_column_layout_settings to true. Why that is, I don't know.
