Image Modals and Zen Cart structure

I just ran into an oddity with the image modals. Since I have another jquery file that I only need on the product info page, I created the product_info folder in the template as normal and uploaded the other file. Image modals stopped working. Since this is the only instance I use image modals, I uploaded that file to the product info folder as well without deleting the same file in the jscript directory. That worked. Then I deleted the other file which I figured was no longer needed. And the image modals stopped working and yes, I did check to make sure it still is in place in the default template. So I would venture a guess that the image modals is designed for all pages even if it is only being used on the product page. But I'll be danged if I can see that in the code anywhere. I would love an explanation why this doesn't appear to follow the template structure rules.

EDIT: proved myself wrong. My file works in the product_info page but adding the image modals file does not (caching may have led me to an incorrect assumption). Once I moved my jscript file back to the jscript folder, all began working fine. So has 2.0 changed anything or have I just not run into this type of issue before?
