    Default pre-order?

Upgraded from 158 by my webmaster

I have a webmaster for my account, but I currently seem to be unable to get her to understand what I'm having difficulty with, so thought I would reach out to you. I know that people are encouraged to search the files first, but when you don't know how to phrase what you want to know, then you don't know how to search for what you want to know...

That being said Is there a way to set up a pre order situation on individual products?

I provide digital downloads. So there is no shipping involved. I add the information to the store. I have someone else who adds the file to cpanel and enables the autodownload.

This doesn't always happen before someone wants to purchase the file. I can send a paypal invoice, but I prefer it to be purchased through the website so it's registered there on the customer's account.

Prior to 2.0.1, I could do that. It seems like 2.0.1 recognizes that there is no download link, so it thinks the product is physical and needs to be shipped, so it won't let the customer pay for the pattern (as near as I can figure, it has something to do with the shipping configuration...sorry...I only know enough about the store software to be dangerous...) But I was thinking, if I could set up a product as a pre-order, the customer could pay for it on the website, and then when the autodownload is created, it could go (either automatically, or manually) from a pre-order to download.

Is this a crazy thing to ask? Do I need to have anything active on the shipping page (admin/modules/shipping), when my product is an autodown?

Thanks for any assistance/clarity you can provide!

    Default Re: pre-order?

Depending on the length of time it takes to get a download ready, you might simply change your payment method to just do an authorize and capture the funds whenever the file is ready.

If the file is already available, just do the capture. If the file is not ready, do the capture when it is ready.

The danger here is that different gatewayss have different rules on how long you can "sit" on an authorized payment before it can no longer be captured.
