Discount based on order total?

I've gone over the plugins and looked through the admin side but I can't find anywhere how to apply tiered discounts based on order total. I'm working on a site for a wholesaler and for example they need to be able to apply a percentage discount if a business spends over $1,000. Is this not available? I found quantity discounts but that they said that isn't going to work for them because it needs to be by order total.

You might wanna look at swguy's plugins, I believe this one does what you're after... Other than that, I don't think there's other alternatives other than coding it yourself.

I assume you know you can define a customer as a wholesale customer, and then different code is used to calculate product pricing...which is what you should be looking at modifying/overriding.

Ah I was looking for a solution on something for version 2+ as it has better built in wholesaler features. This is purely a wholesaler so I have customer approval requirements turned on and pricing turned off for those not logged in. I understand the wholesale pricing features and the client will be using that feature as well but the discounts based on order total is for their customers that don't have higher status yet due to not meeting volume requirements but still be able to offer those new customers a better deal for orders of a certain value. Do you plan on updating your plugin for versions 2+ of ZC?

Oh cool. I'll test it out later. Does the install process for the 1.5.7 release you linked work the exact same for version 2? I'm sure I'll have to make some changes to your plugin to work alongside the tiered wholesale accounts so that the premium-tier accounts get the wholesale discount and the non-premium accounts get the order total discount.
