    Default Email Error Using SMTP2Go

    Hi All,

    Running version 1.58a on a linux server running PHP Version: 8.1.31

    I am runing SMTP2Go through Microsoft Outlook and it is working how it should no issues.

    These are the settings I have for emails.
    1. Newsletter Modules: newsletters,product_notification,back_in_stock_notification,recover_cart_sales, addon_review_reminder

    2. Email Transport Method: sendmail

    3. Newsletter SMTP Email Mail Server Port: 80

    4. Newsletter SMTP Email Mail Host: 45.79.238.223 (as suggested SMTP2Go)

    I have attached part of the chat with SMTP2Go here also the error message is here:
    [18-Feb-2025 18:11:09 Australia/Sydney] Request URI: /admin/index.php?cmd=newsletters&page=1&nID=24&action=confirm_send, IP address: 112.141.5.62, Language id 1
    #0 [internal function]: zen_debug_error_handler()
    #1 /includes/functions/functions_email.php(426): trigger_error()
    #2 /xxxx/includes/modules/newsletters/newsletter.php(127): zen_mail()
    #3 /Pxxxx/newsletters.php(326): newsletter->send()
    #4 /xxxx/index.php(11): require('/home/a1ntacdk3...')
    --> PHP Notice: Email Error: SMTP connect() failed. https://github.com/PHPMailer/PHPMail...roubleshooting
    in /includes/functions/functions_email.php on line 426.

    Chat:
    Rick from SMTP2GO: The basic SMTP settings do appear correct there.

    Does it always get hung up if you try different ports?

    The following SMTP ports are available:
    TLS or no encryption >> available on ports 25, 2525, 8025, 587 and 80.
    SSL >> available on ports 465, 8465 and 443.

    12:30 AM | [email protected]: Yes it hangs on different ports but have only used a couple

    12:33 AM | Rick from SMTP2GO: Can you please try further ports?

    If it allows, you may be able to set an IP address instead of "mail.smtp2go.com". The IPs to try would be: 45.79.238.223 or 172.105.254.10

    Any help would be appreciated as I don't know why it will not work.

    For future reference, "SMTP connect() failed" means that your Zen Cart store was unable to connect to the SMTP2Go server using the IP/port/hostname/username/etc configuration settings provided.
    And, if it "suddenly just stopped" after "working fine previously", chances are very high that it was something malfunctioning on SMTP2Go's end.
