Layout issues...

I've just switched from standard OSC to ZC, and I am very happy so far. ZC looks like it's a way better "version" and I am looking forward to getting to know it.

I am making my own custom theme, and therefor I have some questions:

1.
Is it possible to NOT use categories? The shop I'm setting up will only have about ten products - all of the same "type" or category, so I'd like to list the products directly in the Products-sidebox, instead of listing one directory.
It would shorten the time for visitors to get to where they want to be.

2.
I don't want to have the "All products" and "New products" links in the products-sidebox. Where do I go to remove those?

3.
Where do I go to turn of some of the pages in the information-sidebox?

4.
I want to customize the product-pages. What file am I looking for?

I'm sure there's a lot more I'll need help with, but those four things will make a good start. I'll update with new questions when I "get them".

1. go to Tools -> Layout Boxes Controller You can turn off categories here along with any of the other boxes

Put your Products in a Category ...

Turn off the Categories Sidebox in Layout Boxes Controller ...

In the Layout Settings ... turn on:
Categories - Always Show on Main Page
Always Show Categories on Main Page
0= off
1= on
Default category can be set to Top Level or a Specific Top Level

Then turn on the Category to open to as Categories ID 0 or to the Categories ID that you are using ...

In Zen Cart v1.3 ... you now have the ability to control the Define Pages Status for both the Link and Text ...

Be sure that you are using the templates and overrides system ...

Copy the tpl_ file you need to change, example: tpl_product_info_display.php into your template and override directory ...

Now make your changes to this file ...

Don't work.
When the categories sidebox is off, it won't show anything (doh. hehe).
I've followed your guide.

Hi n5k!

What if you create a category for each of your items.
Turn on the categories sidebox.
Set admin/Configuration/Layout settings/Skip 1-prod Categories to true.

This way, when you select the category, you will be taken directly to the product's page.

I'll try that. Thanks. Seems like a lot of work for something that simple though. There should be an option somewhere in Admin, where I could choose wheter or not to use categories at all or something like that.

New questions:

Is there a place where I can "turn off" some of the links in the information-box?
I've been searching for some time now, but can't seem to find it anywhere in the files or admin...
