    Default Clearance?

Is there a way to put items on clearance but NOT have them show up in the "specials" section? I need a clearance section and would like the prices to show up like the specials do with the original price crossed out and the new price in red but I don't want to have to do each one manually and I don't want them to show up in "specials". Any suggestions?

    Clone specials?

That would be one way to do it ...

What you are needing is a lot of work ...

    Or, get creative ...

Make a Category called Clearance and add these items as Linked Products ...

Then modify the displays on Special sidebox and Special page and Special Centerbox to not include that category ...

Looking at the sale maker, couldn't I just make a sale called "clearance" and apply it to the clearance category and just mark everything the same % off? I'm trying it right now, but am not sure of the full effect of salemaker.

Providing when the Product is moved/linked to the Clearance Category that the Clearance Category is the Master Category ... then the Sale via Sale Maker will work ...

And Sales are not included in Specials ... as they are Sales ...

All products belong to 1 or more categories ...

When there are more than 1 category, then they are Linked Products ...

All products, regardless of belonging to 1 or more catgories, have a master_categories_id that is used for pricing purposes ...

Sale Maker peeks at this master_categories_id to know if a product is or isn't on sale ...

If you do not have this configured that when a product belongs to multiple categories then there is no way to apply a Sale to the Category of products as "sometimes" it would be on sale and sometimes not ... based on where it shows up ...

So, the Master Category ... the master_categories_id is the Category that "Owns" or "Controls" or "Rules" over the Product to manage pricing ...

It is also used to compute the products_price_sorter ... this is the bottom line lowest price you can get a product for ...

So, if a Product was in the Widgets Category and you decide to either add it to the Clearance category as a Linked Product or Move it from the Widget Category to the Clearance category ... the master_categories_id needs to be the Clearance category not the Widget category ...

So tell me if I am right??

// So, if a Product was in the Widgets Category and you decide to either add it to the
// Clearance category as a Linked Product or Move it from the Widget Category to the
// Clearance category ... the master_categories_id needs to be the Clearance
// category not the Widget category ...

So if the customer added the product from the "Widgets Category" the that price would be set in the cart.

If the customer added the product from the "Clearance category" then the lower price would be set in the cart.

If the Master Categories ID is properly set to be the Clearance Category ... regardless of "how" the product gets added the Clearance Price is the right price and will show in the shopping_cart and checkout_ pages ...
