"How did you hear about us?"

This post is about adding a "How did you hear about us" option upon user registration.

I wanted to add on to this post in the Archived Contributions section:

But couldn't so am creating this post.

I have downloaded the patch from the above link and applied it to a *1.2.6* site, and not a 1.3.0 site as it was intended for, but it doesn't work - not surprisingly.

Has anyone got a similar contribution that might work, or a hack to the one above to make it work?

I tried this and got this error on the create account page

1146 Table 'freerang_root.sources' doesn't exist

I couldn't upload the SQL file as it said

1062 Duplicate entry '1' for key 1

I'm a bit stuck now as customers cant continue to create accounts.

I'm not sure what to do next!

Oh I'm using 1.2.7 version of zen cart.

Oh and now I'm getting this error..

1054 Unknown column 'customers_info_source_id' in 'field list'

I have tried to put back everything the way it was but ti think I have broken it!

Got everything back working again *phew*

Only thing I can't get to work is the 'other' drop down box but I give up trying now! I can just guess I suppose!!

Regarding this mod - we managed to get it working on our site however we cannot see where the data is going in the database. Customers are chosing from a drop down menu list or they can enter 'other' which is ideal but the data does not show up anywhere so is useless for us. - Can anyone suggest where the data could be going or how we can adapt the database so this information shows up?

Go into the admin panel, select Extra -> Referrals Sources. You'll find it there....

If you want to customize the list select Extra -> Referrals.

When we click on Extra>Referral Sources it flashes up the following message for a second...

...and then jumps to our website homepage.

Can you help as this is driving us crazy trying to work out whats wrong.

PS - we get exact same message when we go to Extra>Referral (to changes settings as you advised)
