Upgrade Product Type?

In version 126d I used the book product type as a guide and modified it to work for selling sheetmusic. After completing most of the upgrade from 126d to 1301 I am now staring down the barrel of fixing the errors I get from my sheet music product type.

Not sure how much work is involved and am wondering if it is easier to just stay with the general product and make it work. And encouragement either way is appreciated.

I see what you are distressed over...one can not navigate to the product pages to view or buy sheet music. It appeared that it was only those items in the mod product type that were exhibiting this behaviour albeit I did not check all of the other products.

My guess would be that something during the DB upgrade did not or does not work correctly. And for that you will have to, unfortunately wait for someone that has the MySQL & or code expertise. I don't think that it is beyond repair though.

Also there is a version of this dated 5/12/06 that I think moku updated for 1.3 and wondering if you have this??

In the meantime you might post your install particulars in detail

If you upgraded your 1.2.x install or did a fresh 1.3.x install
What other mods you have applied
your MySQL server ver, php ver, platform Linux or??
others that you might have

I remember getting all excited with the Product Type capability and hacked into Book product_jph1 v1.1 (sept 2005 paul AT hareslade DOT com) and customised it for sheetmusic. Added a few tables and dropdown menus and felt like a real code jockey.

*Segue to reality* UPGRADE to 1.3 (WHICH I LOVE BTW!)

I also love the extra side boxes from the Music and Book (by muku) product types and really want my sheet music to sit outside the musical instruments catalogue too.

After MANY hours hacking I never got my sheet music product type as far along as muku's and I only do Zen/web dev part time, so I recon I'll cut my losses and jump onto muku's product type where everyone has something in common. It boils down to about 30 products for me to repopulate. I'll just change muku's language defines to suit sheet music products. Sounds like a plan...hopefully.

I incorrectly thought that you were using moku's mod, re-modded of course. My error.

BTW I liked your site and what you are offering, book marked it.

I hope you have a backup of your old site...you might look in the archives(search) as Ajeh & others highly recommend that one install a new/upgrade in a test directory with another DB and mess with it until it is functional. then there are only 2 files one must alter to move it to live status, if I recall correctly.

This is one of those head things that after we all wish we had done.

Isn't 1.3.x just great!!
