Is there a way to hide the prices till someone logs in. So when you first come to the site you only see the products but not the prices and when you log in you can see the prices.

Admin->Configuration->My Store->Store Status
You can turn on "showcase" mode.
There are some other settings in Admin->configuration->Customer Details also related to authorization of certain customers ... which deals with whether to show prices before/after login etc..
