You have a problem with the column width & alignment for the left side

Can't tell what you have or have not done but it should appear as this: EXAMPLE

The classic look can be seen here: Classic Approximation

If you seek the Classic Look you can email me through this site for the kludge I have for that. Meaning a starting point with css to approximate the classic look in 1.3.x.

What you have done is increase your box widths in the "layout settings" menu in Admin (the top two settings), but left the widths of the columns that contain them at 150px (14-15 lines further down). This isn't recommended.

However, even if you increased the coumn width as well, you would still have problems as to achieve the rounded corners with minimal complications, this template uses fixed width background images for the side boxes and titles. So when you start to alter the widths of the columns and thus the center column, you also need to create a new set of images reflecting you new widths.

An alternative approach would be a little patience as I will shortly be preparing a tutorial to show how to create boxes and titles with rounded corners and variable width. It's more complicated to do, but less owrk if you want to make changes to your design or have a liquid layout.

    Thanks

I fixed the width. All 4 places had 160.

I will be patient and read up on the other threads.

exactly where should I modify so that the content in the side box is not align too close to the side.

eg: category in the content side box merely touches the left side box.

Adjust the sidebox padding. I find 0.8em to be quite a nice value.
